How to choose eyelashes? A complete answer

This question has been asked so many times and a lot of bloggers gave answer from different points of view, such as eye shapes, styles, occasions. I’m gonna try all possible ways here to answer, including some tips and tricks. Hope it’s helpful for you to choose your own eyelashes or explain to your clients.

False eyelashes are so important in make up and it makes you look different immediately you put it on. Sometimes even without make up you can wear it to feel more confident. There are all kinds of false eyelashes and before start, I’d like to say that this is just kind of guidelines of what we think will look best, especially for those who are new to choosing falsies. But everyone defines beauty differently, and you can totally stray away from suggestions below and be yourself for always, or try different looks.

First, to choose according to eye shapes.

To enhance beauty means the primary look is not good enough for you, so the first concern is to complementing the imperfect points of our own eyes and look fascinating.

Eyes are all unique and you may have different traits. There are more than ten kinds of eye shapes if compare in details. But let’s group it with similar eyelashes so it’s more clear.

The first group is round eyes, close-set eyes and down-turned eyes.

Round eyes are also cute but many girls prefer more almond shape eyes like models. Close set eyes are more close to each other at the center and the outer side of down-turned eyes are lower than the other side. For these kind of eye shapes, if you want to elongate your eyes and look more sexy as the cat eye that everybody is wearing, the best type of eyelashes to choose is those pairs with very small short lashes towards the center of the eye and then gradually longer to the outer side. It extends your eyes to look more almond shaped, a bit further away, lifts and elongates your eyes. It looks awesome.

Second group is deep-set eyes and hooded eye.

These kind of eyes may be the most predominant eye shapes. Deep-set eyes are just back more in the skull and the skin is protruding. The hooded eyes is that the brow bone and the eyelid skin kind of falls down over the lid space and the lid space looks very small. Strong intense dramatic eyelashes are recommended here because these eyes are deep or hidden by the hood there, they’re not the focal point or the prominent facial feature. So supper intense or bigger lashes can help protrude your eyes and make you more bright as energetic and gorgeous.

The third type is wide-set eyes.

Wide-set eyes will benefit a lot from just dramatic long lashes coming straight out. The last thing for wide eyes that you wanna do is to apply the more cat look falsies that elongate the eyes even more like discussed in the first group, or it’ll make your eyes look even further wider away. So lashes that evenly distributed and go straight out from the eyeline to pull your eyes up is suggested here.

Forth, the prominent and big eyes.

This type of eyes are very strong prominent, big and protruding. These eyes are already the focal feature on face, not so need for falsies. But if you wanna enhance the lashes, better to choose the natural ones, which is not so big but wispy and natural, and curls along with your own lashes to look fashionable but also gentle.

Other types

There are also other types which are also beautiful and unique.

Such as the small eyes that are proportionally smaller than other facial features, suggest not to use very thick or big lashes, but natural ones with longer and very curled lashes at center and smaller lashes at the sides, to look bigger and more impressive.

Monolid eyes has no crease above the eyes, it’s very versatile and can go with medium length falsies of any patterns.

Up-turned eyes are very sexy and charming already but if you wanna look more gentle, do avoid the lashes which are longer at the outer side.

The space between the crease on eyelids and the eyeline is wider of heavy lided eyes. Lashed with more intense hair at the bottom near the band and less at the end is suggested.

Second, choose for different occasions.

There are many styles of false eyelashes you can pick according to different occasions you’re gonna to attend, or wear different to show your varieties as wish. All styles with different patterns too as per individual taste.

Natural and wispy ones as regular eyelashes to wear everyday;

Medium extra or little dramatic you can put on to attend meetings, concerts, dates, going outside for dinners.

Huge and dramatic ones can be used for shows, parties to be more eye catching. Even colorful eyelashes can be adopted to be more edgy.

Last, recommend lashes according to vegan or not, and consumption level.

After finding the right style and pattern, can come to the material and finalize. There are mainly two kinds of material, mink hair lashes and silk lashes. Both materials have the patterns and styles as discussed above.

Mink lashes are made of mink hair which are more natural and real, looks more like our own lashes, and more expensive.

Silk lashes, or synthetic lashes, faux mink lashes, artificial lashes, vegan lashes, are made of synthetic fiber and looks more artificial, normally cheaper than mink lashes.

If to look more premium and better, mink lashes are always recommended. Need consider the consumption levels of your target clients too.

Mink lashes are also cruelty-free but not totally veg, so for totally vegetarians, silk/vegan lashes are always the choice.
